Yeast bistronomy @ jalan telawi 2 ,bangsar

After a long day , expensive French cuisine is not your first choice . Anyways, off to Yeast bistronomy we go . Internet review seems to suggest that the place is to be very full , going there  without a reservation at peak dinner hour seems bleak . But count my lucky stars we were lucky enough to get in . Service was good,  really good .

The menu ... Well it's not really a menu . There was a fish dish, chicken dish, lamb dish , scallop dish , beef dish . Well that's about it for entrees. Pasta dishes are not things I pay attention to so let's move on to the actual review .
Open kitchen  of  yeast bistronomy
For starters , we had escargot and mint pea soup with duck gratin . The escargot were over cooked but compared to all the others you can get in town it's edible . This can be contributed to the balance provided through the sauce and sauerkraut .

The soup was much better comparatively . The mint wasn't too overpowering and the soup was nice and creamy . Smooth is what I would use to describe something so excellent .

The bread that was given for free is as you would expect from a French bakery . Nice and crunchy from the outside , soft and fluffy on the inside . One was a classic baguette and the other one was a spiced up version of the same . The sesame and other spice addition into such a classic was a unique experience .

Onto entrees . We ordered the scallop with mash potatoes. This is what the layman would call it and I would not try to remember what it was  called  because let's be honest  no body remembers anyway .  The scallop were undercooked being transparent in the middle and the creamy mash potatoes had a very fragrant mushroom smell. On the scale of 1 to 10 , I would give it a 6 because the main item was undercooked and lacked any real flavour .

We also ordered the roast chicken with roasted potatoes and beans . The potatoes were excellent but that's about it . The beans were way overcooked  to the point where they were mush . The chicken had this weird smell that I just cannot get . On the scale of one to ten , I give it a 5 . The chicken just didn't match my expectation .

For dessert we had the chocolate soufflé with raspberry sorbet . The sorbet was good and the soufflé was good but combined together it felt a little bit like I was drinking a very weird lukewarm soup which given the excellence of the two products separately was another let down .

They did let us try a new dish which was duck with egg pastry . it was better than all the other dishes which I think given the amount of  money I paid , just not right.

We also ordered a pineapple mojito because it was a nice Saturday evening . But the alcohol smell was overpowering that  I could not enjoy the taste of the pineapple . Furthermore, the fact that they completely crush all the mint leaves made trying to enjoy the a clean sensation in the mouth difficult .

In conclusion , I would give the restaurant     A 7 out of 10 because it is a great place to go for evening tea but for actual meals, I think it is mostly just passable as French cuisine
